--- Summer 2017 Youth Programs ---

What it is: VBS After Hours is a brand-new program for middle school and high school teens, and it takes place directly after the morning part of VBS ends! After Hours is a complement to the existing VBS experience - but instead of the teens leading a younger grade, VBS After Hours is designed directly for the middle school and high schoolers. We focus each day on two main goals: having as much crazy, memorable fun as possible, and developing the next generation of Christian Leaders!
PLAY! / GROW!LEAD!
Date/Time: July 24-27 (Mon - Thurs) 12:30 - 5:00 PM
Location: St. Odilia main building
To Register: Register below by Saturday, July 22

What it is: Take part in the huge summer extravaganza, Vacation Bible School! Every summer, hundreds of eager children fill the halls of St. Odilia for a week as they learn about their faith. They are a ton of fun, and we need high schoolers to help lead them - so consider applying today to be on the team! It's a great leadership opportunity, gets you some time outside, and you can make a difference in a child's life!
Date/Time: July 24-28, 9:00 AM - 12:15 PM + awesome opportunities for leaders in the afternoon (see below)!
Location: St. Odilia main building
To Register: Application is closed for 2017

What it is: Summer Festival is not just an insanely fun summer camp (though we can't overstate how fun it is) - the camp also features some of the best Christian speakers and music in the country! We stay on Gustavus' college campus (enjoying their award-winning food), and every day includes awesome worship, great morning and evening speakers, some of the best small group discussions you'll find anywhere, and a TON of crazy camp games (like huge water fights, a 4-story water slide, campus-wide night games, hilarious improv and skits, and the spectacular "Messy Fight"). If you have more questions, check the FAQ here. Seriously, this will be the best week of your year!
Camp Date/Time: July 9-12 (Sun. morning - Wed. night)
Location: Gustavus College
To Register: Closed for 2017

What it is: Summer Stretch is an awesome 5-week program for middle school and high school students. Every Wednesday (and a Thursday) for 4 weeks, we meet as a large group to do service together, pray and laugh together, and spend our afternoons at great "fun sites" like Grand Slam, Bunker Beach, the zoo and of course, the final full-day at Valley Fair! It's a good mix of faith and fun, no matter your age. Middle schoolers are participants, high schoolers get to help lead. So have some fun and get some sun, while earning service and leadership experience!
Date/Time: Wednesdays, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
2017 Training Date (for the high school leaders only): Wed. June 21
Program Dates are: June 28, July 19, July 26, Aug. 2, Aug. 9

Location: Meet at St. O's each morning - then we provide transportation to the offsite service and fun sites
To Register: Registration closed for 2017

What it is: St. Odilia will be offering it's first summer mission trip in a few years, so join us as we head to the Cheyenne River Reservation for a week in June! The reservation spans nearly 3 million acres on the far side of South Dakota, and is home to four bands of the Lakota Nation. Students will do service during the day - service can include things like painting, cleaning, or yard work, as well as planning and leading kids programming (like our own VBS) for children in the local community. We'll have cultural experiences, prayer, small groups, and free/fun time each evening. We're also planning to do a little site-seeing at the end of the trip, as we won't be too far from Mount Rushmore and the "Badlands," iconic parts of South Dakota. It will be a great experience of prayer, mission, community, and more!
Date/Time: June 11-17 (Sun. morning - Sat. night)
Location: Cheyenne River Indian Reservation
To Register: Registration is now Closed for 2017!

What it is: Emmaus Nights are not a class, youth group, or source of entertainment, but an ongoing retreat experience! There are aspects of our retreats that really resonate with the teens, and we aimed to translate those elements to a weekly opportunity. We want teens at Emmaus to encounter God, have time to relax, talk about faith or life, and form deep and meaningful relationships.

For Emmaus Summer, we start with a super fun, active game that gets kids laughing, competing, and working together as teams in anything from "Slip-n-Slide Kickball" to a "Hunger Games" competition. After a good hour and a half running around and making crazy memories, we move into the more traditional part of an Emmaus Night schedule. That means authentic fellowship and sharing in small groups the students choose for themselves. Followed by a short story about Jesus, and time in prayer with worship music!

Date/Time: Sundays, 6:00 - 9:00 PM
Location: Starts at the Youth Room (3510 Vivian Ave), but the games are outside!
To Register: No Registration needed, and it's free! Open to 8th-12th graders
